The proximity fuse was a radio transmitter/receiver that detected an object in its path. When the object was close enough, about 30 feet, the fuse would go off. Before the proximity fuse, the range to the target had to be estimated and that range dialed into the shell. This was difficult against a maneuvering attack aircraft. The trick was to get the tiny radios rugged enough to withstand firing from an anti-aircraft gun. The success of the proximity fuse was confirmed with tests aboard Cleveland (CL-55), 12 Aug 42, which downed three drones with four shots from 5" dual purpose guns. A former radio and TV engineer and one-time station owner, Kanzius, who suffers from leukemia, hated his chemotherapy and saw its devastating effect on others. "I ran into some of the same patients over and over again and, to see their smiles disappear within a few weeks, and then watch their hair disappear and then, clinging to their mothers asking, 'What's wrong with me?' was heartbreaking." Kanzius, who'd been building radios since childhood, believed radio waves could somehow be harnessed to destroy cancer, without drugs or invasive surgery. "I envision this treatment taking no more than a couple of minutes or so," he says. Kanzius hopes cancer treatments could work something like this: A patient would be injected with tiny metal nano-particles, which would be carried through the bloodstream by a targeting molecule and attach only to cancerous cells. The patient would then be exposed to an energy field created by radio waves, and feel nothing, while the nano-particles would generate enough heat to destroy their cancerous host cell.

a short video to show how easy it is to remove a RCD510 from a 2005 Volkswagen Golf MK5. i installed a Parrot Bluetooth kit and decided to do a video, as a lot of people ask how to remove these radios. as you can see from the video, it takes less than 5 minutes. i have had mine out numerous times. the first time you do yours, it might take you 30 minutes (if you go really slow, and take your time) no matter the radio, the removal process is the same for all of the VW radios from the RCD300 right up to the RNS510. re installation is as simple as reversing the steps in the video. i did not video the Bluetooth install, as the kit was plug'n'play, and there are other videos on youtube that show how that's done. there are no videos (to my knowledge) that show how to actually remove the head unit.

This promotional film from 1960 was discovered by Peter J. Smith, Director of the Seaside Heights Office of Public Relations in May 2008, and was converted to modern video format by Joe Verderosa of Greenrose Media. Peter had seen this film once before in his life, when it was shown by Mr. Hugh J. Boyd, Principal of his namesake school in Seaside Heights. Peter spent five years looking for this video inside the Borough Hall. One day, he had to reach high on a shelf to retrieve a box of 8 radios. However, the box only had 7 radios inside. This made him grab a stepladder and look for the radio. The radio was found on top of a reel of film, which turned out to be the long-lost Sun and Fun video. We like to think that the spirit of J.
